Day 1 in the DSPCA
Day 1 In the big brother house, haaha no. Day 1 in the DSPCA. If you've read 'about me' then you know why im writing this so need I not start explaining again ;) To describe it in one word 'fabulous'. It started off in the freezing cold as most of you would also have experienced this morning; I made my way up to Mount Venus where the DSPCA Campus is located. I now say 'Campus' instead of 'Shelter' as a world of changes have happened over the last year, I’ll go into more detail further on. I spent the morning at 'orientation' with the new staff for the Veterinary Clinic presented by the lovely Lori Davis (fundraising&new developments manager) and Orla Aungier (Operations manager), we learned all about how the DSPCA is run its future and its past. We saw also some very gruesome pics of abused animals and thankfully some success stories. I met with the lovely Jimmy Cahill CEO of the DSPCA and the other brilliant vets&staff. We were given a tour of the Cattery, Dog rehoming, horse, wildlife and other animals all of which i was planning how to hide them in the apartment without my husband finding them. It's very tough as some of you are familiar with when seeing animals in need of homes you just want to take them all home. When then had coffee in the lovely 'Central bark cafe&gift shop' a lovely spot to finish your visit off id recommend to everyone to pop up then have a coffee and play with the various doggy's running freely around. We went on the view the new boarding cattery/kennels, completed in November 2010 at fantastic rates and fantastic facilities, the kitties even have 'penthouse suites' more than i have! Deffo be putting Oscar up there when I go away. Then we went onto for a photo shoot in the new veterinary, it will be open to the public in the next two weeks I’ll keep you posted when, state of the art facilities and ALL profits go straight back into the DSPCA fantastic, I would recommend changing over your pets as you will be supporting a great charity which save's lives. I have some wonderful pics of rescued pups from today's shoot that I’ll post up and will post the professional one's if I can. I finished the day off with the lovely adoption consultant ladies, great bunch and they work very hard to match the animals with great owners and vice versa, you wouldn’t believe the guidelines which are followed but ensures that the animals are going to good home's and get the lives and love they deserve. Well i suppose that's enough to digest for the moment, i will update with the details for the new development's coming on board including a dog park and the opening of the new Veterinary and what's happening with me. Thanks guys&dolls.
